Fantasy Football R Us - created by the fans for the fans !!

Welcome to a new season and our new website

AN EXCITING FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE CREATED BY MARCUS OAKLEY AND ALEX HADLEY-LAUDER HELPING RAISE FUNDS AND AWARENESS FOR JACK MARSHALL

Our fantasy football league had grown year on year and with a staggering 75 teams in the 2010/11 competition we set our goals even higher this season.  Both Alex and I wanted to get increased numbers involved in our league and also raise a little money for a charity.

We both felt that the Jack Marshall Brain Tumour Fund was the cause that we wanted to support. If we decided if we could get 100 teams involved then we would donate £200 from our prize pot to this fund. If we were to get 115 teams then £300 would be donated, 135 teams would result in £400 and 150 teams would mean £500 donated!

We felt this was a very worthy cause and with the inclusion of 100+ teams we would have a larger prize pot for all entrants and we would also be donating a nice amount to a great fund.

When final numbers came in, we were delighted to find that we had hit 152 teams for this season! This meant that £500 was donated to Jacks Fund! On top of this one of the entrants, Mr Steve Kettle, donated £50 and the September Manager of The Month Mike Stowell also donated his £50 winnings meaning to date £600 has been sent to Jacks Fund !

On the 13th October 2011 we heard the sad news that Jack had passed away at his home in Scunthorpe with his family by his bedside. So many people have been touched by Jacks story and although battling a terminal illness still lived life with a smile on his face.  Jack will be missed by many and through our Fantasy League we will strive to continue raising money for his fund.

Jack was a very brave, funny and loving little six year old boy.  At a very early age not long after starting reception year at school he became ill.  After several visits to the doctors it was put down as a viral infection, things gradually then got worse.  Following a CT scan it was discovered that Jack had a sizeable tumour.  This is where the painful journey really began.  I would encourage you all to read Jacks story at the above link and you will read about such a brave and courageous boy - one that was so brave that after all he has been through he always had a smile on his face.  His parents Tracey and Craig have and are working tirelessly in their attempts to get the awareness out there of Jacks condition.  Only a very small amount of money which Cancer Research receive goes towards help in treating Brain Tumours...lets do our bit to help.
